Hi frameworks
I'm looking for some essential reading on experimental film, cinema and video etc... Lets say to start with 5 must have books that will help enlighten me! I would very much like to dedicate some time to studying this area as I often fan through these emails and find them illuminating and enjoyable. I guess I'm looking for a good historical foundation to begin with. I have studied art for 4 years, 3 years on a BA course and one year of art history through the OU so far.
I have always been interested in experimental film and video, or avant-garde film and video but my practice never really touched it enough to really explore the area. Generally lecturers seemed less knowledgeable about this side of the art world as well from what I remember so it always seemed difficult to approach. When I did approach it, it always seemed to be in quite a disparate way. Anyway, this art history course has helped me develop some methodologies I would quite like to apply to this side of the fence. Please help me get started by suggesting some good reading material.
All the best Kevin
