I use Facebook for things it's useful for. Discussion isn't among them,
cute puppy photos are. Let's not overlook the pleasure of cute puppy
photos.

Facebook is most like a very crowded cocktail party. Very nice for
casual chatter andone-liner bon mots, but an actual conversation is
better served with a little focus in a quiet place.

Every time I try to talk about real things, I wind up frustrated and
angry, usually because I've made the mistake of responding to the
half-cocked comment of an aunt of somebody I met at a jazz festival, and
I don't really want to make a mess in that casual acquaintance's house
anyway. If *we* tried to have a discussion on facebook, our own aunts
would be dumping conventional wisdom non-sequiturs in our comment
threads every time a frameworks post showed up in our feeds. Why bother?

And the entire Frameworks archive is already searchable via google
proper, whether we've saved emails or not.
