For what it's worth: I'm an artist and I have just started to use Super 8 again in my practice, but now more extensively. I am exploring how you can develop new hybrid forms by combining technologies (in other words, I mess about with digitising film and then refilm, then do something else with it, and then film it again etc etc). Anyway, it is still a valid medium to work with and it offers the opportunity to better understand moving images. I know this is preaching to the choir here, but surely your film department understands that you simply cannot recreate the specific type of image that Super 8 gives us, projected or otherwise. I'm no Luddite but just because computers were invented we don't need to destroy all the pencils. x

Subject: [Frameworks] Super 8 in Music Video's and film

Dear all,
The film department I work in has charged me with the tasks of arguing why Super8 is still a relevant gauge. I am looking for recent examples of the use of small gauge in commercials, music videos, features and shorts. I am compiling a list of festivals and venues that still exhibit super8. I have been finding lots of examples but I'm looking for additional input in case I have overlooked anything.

Thanks,
Eric Stewart
