[Frameworks] Auricons

Hi Frameworks. I just bought an old Auricon, and I'm looking to get the
optical sound system working. I found some old threads in the archives, but
they've expired, so I figured I'd start a new one.

Has anyone had any luck getting the optical sound-on-film to work with
non-auricon pre-amps? Rather than trying to track down the vintage amp and
worry about getting it working as well, I was thinking it might be easier to
rig DC battery power to the exciter lamp and then simply send an audio
signal in to modulate the galvanometer, I guess to be figured with some
experimenting with line out, headphone out, or even speaker out levels if
needed...

I haven't received the camera yet, but here's what I know so far:
- The motor runs, at least (yay)
- there is a galvanometer in-camera (hopefully not broken)
- The audio input has a four-pin socket, rather than the 8-pin socket I've
seen in pictures of the (newer?) Cine-Voice models. I'm assuming two of
these are DC power for the optical sound lamp, and the other two would be
for the audio signal. I guess I'll have to do some testing to figure out
what's what, unless somebody out there knows.

Or, if anyone has an old 4-pin Auricon optical amp (ideally solid state)
lying around that they're willing to sell for a reasonable price, I'd be
interested.

thanks,
George Monteleone
