There is a difference in tone between: (MUST BE TYPED) and (Please
type or print clearly, thank you)

"MUST BE TYPED" suggests that there may be some technological
reason, like insisting on using the "special pencil provided" or the
machine will not read your application and will discard.

I will not feel confident about filling anything in by hand on this
entry form until I hear a statement from Bryan Konefsky , Festival
Director, that this will be acceptable or not in no uncertain terms.

Otherwise I am not going to waste my time and/or money on this
particular festival.
