But is it not the role of art itself that has changed? Most
contemporary art is not critical, as opposed to modern art.
Which reminds of these two guys I saw in NYC back in the mid 1990s.
They had hooked up a laptop to a webcam mounted in a very elaborate
machine rig that looked like a miniature version of Snow's La Region
Centrale machine. I approached them and quickly realized that not only
they did not know La Region Centrale and/or M Snow but that they did
not know ANYTHING about experimental film. They thought they were
about to invent a new medium.
Ahhh...The Post Modern moment.
