Dear Charles,

I'd like to mention another organization which is looking for
volunteers/interns in San Francisco. The San Francisco Cinematheque
presents two seasons of experimental moving image art each year. We are
now gearing up for our 50th anniversary year in 2011 and are conducting
ambitious membership and donor drives. We also have an archive of almost
50 years of program notes, artists' correspondence and ephemera which is
being digitized. And, of course, we always need help promoting and
putting on our weekly screenings. If you're interested you should
contact our new executive director Jonathan Marlow at
(address suppressed) Thanks.

Best Wishes
Larry Daressa

There aren't really any opportunities for ta'ing right now, and I'm
still looking in to work study. My graduate program doesn't have grads
teach undergrads really...I don't think I'm really ready for that
anyway. Thanks for the encouragement though.

Charles,
Perhaps I overlooked that grad school can be overwhelming for people at
different stages of study in disertation/thesis work. It was for me.
Flick is probably correct in stating that a job of some sort or a
volunteer opportunity would allow you to get away from academia and
perhaps release some stress and disconcern of a grad program. I do wish
you luck and if I hear of something available in SF I'll pass it on,
although I'm in FL. By the way, does the school your attending have
anything in place for grad students such a teaching assistant, research
assistant, administrative position or a course that you can instruct?
Many gradute programs do.

It does sound strange, I know. I was mostly looking for a kind of
flexible internship like thing, something that I can work less at once
the semester picks up and I have a big project to work on. Things will
get extremely busy in due time.

Too much free time in graduate school? I'm not sure what to make of that
and I do find it hard to believe. What school is it? What is the course
work? My grad and undergrad students have a heavy load of course work
regarding research, projects, concepts, etc. It just seems like an odd
request/statement to make for someone in grad program.

Hey everyone. I just moved to San Francisco for grad school, but don't
have a job and have too much free time. So, I'm looking to volunteer my
time somewhere. Any ideas where to look? I've already emailed Canyon and
ATA...
anyone that needs a volunteer, or any organizations you know of, please
let me know...
