Having missed the inciting email to this thread but finding suggestions of
isolated films in the noire park, I would throw in Penn's (1959) MICKEY ONE,
which might be followed by the colour noire NIGHT MOVES, both of which stand
up to revoiring. And to attempt a gender balance I might add Ophuls'(1947
is it) CAUGHT of which I am particularly fond and regularly, well often,
used its single-take scenes to bewilder my 101 students who had to be
unwedded, untimely ripped perhaps, from their holy (wood) preconceptions of
plot and stuff, CAUGHT of course being a Hollywood film but in one of those
brief experimental flushes, or should we now say surges.
