Gene et al.,

I have the Epson Stylus Photo R200 printer (ink jet). I bought it
about two years ago because it has the ability to print directly onto
DVD's. You do have to buy special "ink jet printable" DVD's, but I've
been able to find them for about $.10 more than regular discs at places
like meritline and allmediaoutlet.com. Especially when I'm just
putting text onto white discs, it looks great, and it's able to handle
full color graphics in an acceptable manner.

This is definitley not the same as paying for professional printing,
but especially for my own archiving and labeling for festival entries,
it's great. I would imagine that between the cost of ink and the
special discs, I'm paying a little more than I would for labels, but as
has been pointed out earlier, there aren't gumming and balance issues.
The Epson is a consumer grade printer, but is also priced like one.
