in 2004, AFCOOP, (the atlantic filmmakers co-op, which
is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and which
was originally modelled after the new york filmmakers
co-op in 1974) made a documentary about their
formation and history as a part of their 30th
anniversary project.... the documentary is called "30
takes" and for the documentary they commissioned 10
filmmakers from the afcoop's history to each make a 3
minute film... the documentary portion is an
additional 30 minutes... they have intercut the 3
minute films throughout the documentary so the work as
a whole is about 1 hour.
in terms of self-organization it's an interesting
story...
i'm not sure who to contact about getting a copy of
it... but their website (i believe) is www.afcoop.ca
and i think you could probably get distribution
