Re: [Frameworks] FInal Cut Pro X - Apple PR piece

That is interesting Ekrem!
The reason it sounds "a little too Apple I <3's you'ish." is because it is basically a PR piece from apple. The writer explains this in his opening but spins it slightly in the hope that the unaware won't notice. When confronted in the comments he admits that everything came from apple and he edited it where he felt able to verify the facts and just put "apple says" where he couldn't. He admits to not really having an understanding of the subject himself and being largely reliant on apple.

The article is basically an apple public relations exercise.
If you are paying attention this is rather obvious, with trivial complaints being listed first (with obvious solutions) and the really serious stuff being listed last after everyone has already fallen asleep.
It's a very interesting article however, as you get the word straight from the horses mouth so to speak. This is the actual considered opinion of Apple itself.
The most serious issue I would have thought, was lack of support for EDL's etc. That really cuts off final cut from the outside world including editing actual physical film. Apple seem to suggest here that they have no intention of supporting EDL's or ODF's etc in future versions of the program. They are leaving it to third party suppliers to fudge something together at a future date.
I could be wrong, but I would expect to see people vacate the FCP space and move over to Adobe Premiere. Adobe seem to so far have managed an exceptional job of migrating to 64bit. The fact many people are already running after effects will cement this and premiere is the closest cousin to FCP anyway.
Not good news for FCP users but it is what it is. People who make their livelihoods from FCP are right to be fearful. They need to start reviewing other options now.
All this is of course why there is such a movement to open source software.
love
Freya

At the end of the video it lists a bunch of key FCP features it doesn't have.
