Emile,

Could you please send the link again... It seems you sent a Conan clip,
which is no longer online...

I admit I did not know many professional feature were not included in FCP X
(I haven't tested it). Which is also why I can't confirm or deny what the
petition is stating.

I heard that not being able to open older FCP sequences is because of the
new architecture and what they are working on is a way to "transfer" all of
the existing data over. Typically this is done through the XML import, but
they admit that sucks... They are building a brand new utility to do so
(like a log and transfer specifically for older FCP sequences).

Also, from all accounts FCP X is the launch of the new Final Cut, not the
final product. It is has been suggested by industry professionals that FCP
X is not the version to upgrade to, but the next say FCP X.1 or XI is where
they are aiming to really present the full fledged version of the program.

I just find it difficult to jump on this after six days of use.

Why doesn't someone send Steve Jobs an email asking where the features are?
He generally responds to very specific emails and will let you know if
"they are coming."

It is like saying in 2001 "Hey! This LCD TV sucks, give me back my CRT!"
While this may be true, they didn't make full HD CRTs, and no one likes how
big CRTs got anyway. LCDs have come a long way in 10 years. Don't throw
out your CRT until you are happy with the quality of the new LCDs (like me).

It should also be noted that perhaps Apple is gearing for a full 4K mode (or
even float space!) of FCP, which is where video/film is heading -- even for
the prosumer. I would dare suggest they realized that FCP7 could not handle
the future of 4K and they decided now was the time to start on a new
architecture.

I don't hear anyone complaining that their FCP 3 was so much better when it
was pure SD and couldn't handle HD. They don't sell FCP 3 any more either
btw.

Of course they stopped selling FCS 3, they want to sell FCP X!
