if the rental house has a good reputation then this could be a good route to
go, as most rental houses have trained technicians caring for the gear, and
trained professionals who are using it. just be sure to ask them why they
are selling it and what the camera's history is. chances are its a format
that has lost it's commercial value- say a 16mm camera that can't shoot
super 16mm- and they just want to make room for something else.
