PS, This is almost certainly only of historical interest now, but Martin Sawyer, who makes optical soundtrack masters, among other things, developed a double system sound playback method for Super 16mm. The tiny border of remaining film between the Super 16mm frame edge and the physical edge of the film contains a digital track that controls a hard disk player running a stereo sound track.
