hi eric,
leaving aside the countless examples of super 8 as past/memory in
feature films and found footage documentaries, one thing that comes
to mind quickly is the beautiful "vers mathilde" by claire denis,
which has a lot of scenes shot in super 8, if i remember correctly.
i'm also thinking of "the year of the horse" (jarmusch), although
it's not exactly recent.
the german magazine "schmalfilm" is devoted to super8, it was
relaunched in 2004 and seems to be doing ok; they have rather
extensive listings of festivals and venues, i believe. there was an
english version called "smallformat", but i think it got canceled
some time ago.
