just to lower the tone (or raise it, after the dinner party discussion): check out 'look around you', the bbc-broadcast spoof science film series (the first series is great, the second awful i hear). it's mostly parody, but gets wonderfully surreal at points. the dvd cover can be inverted so as to look like 'the textbook that accompanies this series'

Their time-lapse of breeding maggots is a don't miss... if you're in
the mood..

(I used to have their sample reel on 3/4", fun for dinner parties ;-)
