Five cartridges of super 8 I had in the freezer (two with sound!) made it into the mix, I think, although with images shot by a former student, not by me. Was just happy to see them not go to waste. (Hope those ancient rolls produce an okay image.)

A few years ago, I actually went to Dwayne's in person when I was shooting some film in southern Kansas. I walked in to hand them a half-dozen rolls of Kodachrome super 8 to process and told them that I'd made the trip from Florida to drop them off. The woman who took them from me acted like people drove thousands of miles every day to hand deliver film. I was hoping the eyes would pop out of her head when I said I'd driven from Florida, but instead she just said, "So you want us to send them back to you in Florida?" To get over my disappointment, I went and ate a giant open-faced pulled-pork and mashed-potatoes sandwich that stayed with me for the next few days.

In any case, even if I didn't get the reaction I'd hoped for, I'm glad I made the trip. It's been really interesting to see those images of Parsons, KS all over the news lately and to remember that visit.

Bye, Kodac'chrome.
