Friedrich is a good suggestion.

A few absolutely key films: Frampton's "Poetic Justice," Brakhage's "23rd Psalm Branch," and Rainer's "Film About a Woman Who..." Plus Cornell's "Legend for Fountains."

Several Joyce Wieland films could also be important to your work, such as "Sailboat," if just a single word counts, and, if anagrammatic "texts" count, her great "La Raison Avant la Passion." Sara Gomez's "One Way or Another" is worth a look.
