A partial list I compiled with Bradley Eros for a talk I gave at NYU in 08 on a panel called “Not Your Home Movies: Downtown Film.” I added a lot of other historic venues (i.e. pre-80s), but dunno where my final list is at the moment.

There was, of course, the pioneering FilmMakers Cinémathèque in the 1960s. I remember seeing early Andy Warhol there.
