Is it a 1080P (24P or 23.98P) File? It should compress to a Mpeg-2 as
23.98 without a bad gamma change using compressor. Did you see the
frame rate settings in compressor? was it set to 90min(best) for a 2-
pass compress?

Use Quicktime Conversion to make a HD H264 file and it should be fine,
assuming the transfer was HD (1080P) to begin with..
