Residencies and Graduate Programs

 <email suppressed>Dear Frameworkers,

I am a young filmmaker in search of experimental film-friendly residencies
and graduate schools. I would appreciate any of your enlightened thoughts
or suggestions as I continue to consider the opportunities available.

In terms of residencies, I am looking into those that provide housing, offer
a monthly stipend and are a minimum of 6 months. I know Rijksakademie and
Akademie Schloss Solitude are two good bets. Any additional suggestions
would be most appreciated, particularly those specific to “emerging
artists”.

As far as graduate programs go, I am interested in any helpful inside
knowledge of notable programs and faculties. Most of my own understandings
are based on what may or may not be out-dated reputations and, furthermore,
are limited to North American schools. Financial assistance will be another
great concern of mine, so programs that may offer substantial scholarships
to students of merit are particularly appealing. As far as I am aware, the
School of the Art Institute of Chicago offers two full-ride scholarships a
year to students entering the MFA in Film. I am U.S. citizen, Anglophone
and graduate of the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema at Concordia University
in Montréal.

Your thoughts and considerations are very much appreciated.

Kindest regards,
Marianna Milhorat
