This is crucial advice. I cannot stress how important this is. A great
number of our rejected films are high-quality narrative works that
completely miss the point of our festival. They might play a more
traditional independent film festival to rave reviews, but if it's not
right for our programming, we have to pass on it.

I should note though that a lot of festival programmers do know each
other and talk (and some program multiple festivals) and if your film
is really great but not right for them, I know a lot of programmers
who pass these films on to other festivals.
