CFMDC CALL FOR CURATORIAL RESIDENCY

Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre is now accepting proposals for
Avant-Garde Canada: Curating The CFMDC Collection. This is an International
Curatorial Residency Program that is open to curators working outside of
Canada. CFMDC will host 2 curatorial residencies, the first in the Fall of
2009 and the second in the Spring of 2010. The program and curatorial
statement will be published for a public screening in Toronto, and CFMDC
will work with the curators to develop a screening in their city of current
residence. Curators with a strong museum/gallery background are strongly
encouraged to apply.

CFMDC will provide a professional curatorial fee, travel to Toronto, 7
nights accommodation, per diem and cover artist fees, shipping and
presentation costs.

 About CFMDC
CFMDC is Canada's foremost non-commercial distributor and resource for
independently produced film. Since 1967, CFMDC has been a critical source
for programmers, institutions, festivals and museums around the world. CFMDC
is committed to its role as an advocate for the dissemination of independent
visions.

We represent more than 750 filmmakers worldwide and more than 2,600 film
titles in distribution. CFMDC¹s collection is diverse, and spans several
decades. The combined works cover a broad range of approaches to both
conceptual and formal concerns, covering substantial thematic ground. The
collection holds some of this country¹s most important works of art on film
and has had a substantial impact on Canada¹s experimental media arts
landscape.

CFMDC distribution activities ensure that both local and international
exhibitors view our filmmakers¹ work. It is the mission of the CFMDC to play
a critical role as an advocate for the accessibility of independent film, to
contribute to the creation of a culture receptive to artist-made films, and
to remit royalties to artists for the exhibition of their work.
