Exactly!

Once synchronous motors are up to speed, they'll run exactly the same
speed. Usually 1800 rpm. Here are some motors I found, I bet you can
find some cheaper:
http://www.surplussales.com/motors/Motors-2.html Maybe 1/4 HP?

With these motors driving the projectors, you thread your head "sync"
frames in the gate and power-up both motors/projectors at once. One
projector might come up to speed a frame or two faster every time, so
you set the sync frame on that projector back a frame or two.

One can drive a Pageant projector with an external motor by extending
the threading knob shaft with a coupler and use Boston pulleys and a
belt. I can go into it further if this seems like something you'd
like to pursue. Contact me off list <email suppressed>

One motor would be very elegant but it would tend to lock down the
mechanics and thus, the optics and the projection angles. If the dual
projectors were powered by your bike chain, that might be a good
thing. This solution also starts and stops in perfect schmynk. Rob D.
