Dear Ms. Levine,

I urgently request that action be taken by the Department of Cultural
Affairs on behalf of the NY Filmmakers Cooperative, currently located in
the Clocktower Gallery at 108 Leonard Street. The Filmmakers Cooperative
is one of the leading international resources for experimental and
avant-garde cinema, and houses a lending collection of invaluable
artistic and cultural importance. The Coop functions in the community
both as a lending library and as an archive of film art.

As a researcher, teacher, and filmmaker, I rely on the Coop’s collection
on a regular basis. The artistic and scholarly community will suffer
greatly from the loss of this invaluable collection of films. Please
allow the Filmmakers Coop to remain in their current location or assist
in finding an affordable space for them to relocate to.

Thank you,
Michelle Puetz

Committee on Cinema and Media Studies
