While we're at it, the UN could formally abolish the right of occupied peoples to resist their aggressors by force, thus bringing international law into line (at last!) with the state of play on the ground; the Navajo could surrender their remaining lands to Barack Obama the day he takes office, and at last be rid of all the stresses and strains which come with even a limited degree of autonomy; and Jews everywhere could apologise to the countless nations who have undertaken the hard work of persecuting and massacring them down the ages for having died in such large numbers, and with so little fuss, thus making their oppressors look like much worse people than they actually were, and generally depressing millions of casual onlookers.

Ah, I see, you are on the side of the Jews when they die without much fuss, but you withdraw your support when they refuse to put themselves in that position. To tell you the truth, if I have the choice of, on the one hand, seeing the Jews persecuted, massacred and earning the compassion of the so-called "left", and on the other, autonomous, alive, well-armed, making a great deal of fuss about dying, while at the same time earning the "left's" censure, I will opt for the latter.

And I think the great Amerindian warriors would feel hilariously vindicated if they knew that the West, after all these years, chooses as its ideal of "freedom fighter" an obscurantist, rabid, hate-mongering, repressive and repressed group such as Hamas.
