Just an early note about the availability of Gary Beydler's films. Many of you probably know his classics Pasadena Freeway Stills and Hand Held Day, which are still total knockouts. Most of you probably don't know his amazing film Venice Pier, or his beautiful first film Mirror, or his more humorous short pieces Los Ojos and Glass Face.
I've been working on restoring Gary's films at the Academy, and eventually, all of these will be in 16mm distribution through Canyon Cinema, beginning imminently with Pasadena Freeway Stills and Venice Pier, which are both ready.
As soon as they're officially available, I'll send another note out here, but wanted to give everyone a heads-up, as I know Gary's films are quite beloved, and I'm really eager for people to see not only the new prints, but these other incredible films he made that haven't been seen much.
Hopefully those first two will be rentable beginning early next year.
All the best,
