Dear frameworks:

My name is Evan, I'm a graduate student at the University of Iowa. This year the University has me running their documentary festival, as well as teaching a class on alternate forms in programming. Coincidentally, my dept. is also holding a conference on Avant Docs around the time of the festival. I feel like these parameters/situations speak to a need for non-traditional exposure. So, I would ask this community for things that test the edge of what it is to make a document.
Any takers?

The Iowa City International Documentary Festival is now accepting submissions for our 2009 Festival, to be held April 9, 10, 11 - 2009.

We are looking to put together a diverse program that covers a broad range of forms, modes and styles; both conventional documentary to experimental non-fiction. In short, anything that adds to the field or to the way we think about what it means to produce a document. All we ask is that the work be less than 30 minutes in length, as programming is tight and very rarely are we able to make space for longer work.

The early deadline is December 12, 2008
The late deadline is January 16, 2009
These are post-mark deadlines.

Please see our submission guidelines for more details, including fees, mailing address, preview formats etc. alternatively you can visit http://icdocs.net or email email suppressed

We look forward to seeing your submission.

Best wishes,
Evan Meaney
