Mark, your story reminds me of how I tracked down Gary Beydler many years ago.
I knew Pasadena Freeway Stills (there was a print at the University
of Rochester), but didn't know how to reach Gary. I came across a
print at the Donnell library in New York, and "Freude" was written on
the can. I knew about Freude Bartlett through a TV show my dad wrote
and produced in the 60s, for which he often invited filmmakers, and
he had an old phone number for her. I called her out of the blue, and
from her got a number for Gary. This was a few years before
FrameWorks. He was happy to put Pasadena and Hand Held Day into
distribution at Light Cone, where they have been rented often over
the years. I have not been in touch with him since then. Say hi for
me!
