FRAME X WEEK

Five days of experimental filmmaking workshops,
screenings and seminars, hosted by the Atlantic
Filmmakers Cooperative [AFCOOP] in Halifax, Nova
Scotia.

A WEEK OF AVANT GARDE CINEMA
Aimed at exploring film as a form of expression and
experimentation, the FrameX Week includes workshops,
screenings and seminars. The centerpiece of this
celebration is a special Monday Night Movies
presentation of innovative films from The Netherlands
avant-garde scene curated and presented by Dutch
filmmaker, Pim Zwier. In partnership with The Art
Gallery of Nova Scotia, The National Film Board of
Canada, NSCAD University and The Coast, this week
promises to inspire both filmmakers and film lovers.

A special presentation of Monday Night Movies
LOCATION:

A screening of experimental and avant-garde film works
from the Dutch underground. Whether it’s through
surveying animals in a zoo, a housewife at home, a
Dutch emigrant returning home, or a teenager’s first
sexual encounter, these films highlight the
individual’s search for his or her own place in the
chain of nature, society, spirituality, and sexuality.
Meanwhile, the filmmakers themselves are also carving
a space for their artistic medium, as they shape
images on 16mm film through alternative and hand-made
practices. Curated and introduced by Dutch filmmaker
Pim Zwier.
