Re: Science fiction / experimental film Ed,

This may be tangential to your query, especially since the film neither looks nor feels like science fiction to me, but Warhol's Space has a Ronald Tavel script which is clearly is based on science fiction - at least from the snippets which can be identified as being from the script (as opposed to the unscripted events which take over the film).

Speaking of this, some other titles that have come to mind since I posted (and thanks again for all the fantastic feedback):

Derek Jarman: Jubilee
John Maybury: Remembrance of Things Fast
James Fotopoulos: The Nest
And...

Sam Wells – Wired Angel (sorta!)
