Kristall (2006) is the latest joint work by Christoph Girardet et
Matthias Müller. The film won the Prize for the best short film at the
Semaine internationale de la Critique, Festival de Cannes 2006. To be
presented as an installation for the first time.

Matthias Müller (born in 1961) is a key figure in filmed autobiography
and "found footage film". His work has been seen at many festivals
(e.g., Cannes, Venice, Berlin, and Rotterdam) and has been the subject
of several retrospectives (including one at MoMA); it can be found in
the collections of major museums such as the Centre Pompidou and Tate
Modern. The video and installation artist Christoph Girardet (born in
1966) has been working with video since 1989. His work has been shown
at Stedelijk Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven) and P.S.1 (New York), among
other museums and galeries. Since 1999 the two artists have been
working together on films, videos and installations. Their first joint
work, "Phoenix Tapes" (1999), offered a masterly rereading of the work
of Alfred Hitchcock. Their latest film, "Kristall" (2006), combines a
multitude of images of mirrors, taken from classic films and
juxtaposed to create a fascinating mosaic. "Kristall" will be on view
until March 25.
