Try http://www.raumzeitfilter.de/hotel_e.htm

It's a German documentary that in 1997 won the German Film Critics
Associations' award as Best Experimental Film of the Year - and was mostly
shot in animation technique. It's about a small hotel in Britanny and its
owner who remembers 40 years or so running the place. The filmmaker used
video and 16mm in different stages of production (information on site).

Subject: Examples of personal documentaries

Hi all:

I'm seeking recommendations for examples of personal documentaries,
especially those that employ experimental filmmaking techniques, for some
inspiration on a project of my own. Titles that I might be able to find via
Netflix or at an institution like the Donnell Media Center in NYC, would be
especially appreciated.

Many thanks,

-> scott
