Thanks very much for the fast, thoughtful, and detailed responses to my
Film Group question – all really, really helpful. I know that Jeff is
joking when he calls this kind of information "useless," but it's worth
saying that anecdotal history of the kind he provided is invaluable in the
case of films and filmmakers like these, which, as Patrick says, are
woefully under-acknowledged in standard accounts of nonfiction film
history.
