This is not what you asked, but maybe you should note that "An American
Family" was itself inspired by an "underground" video project, Arthur
Ginsberg's "The Continuing Story of Carel and Ferd" (1970-1972), the first
"reality TV" series. Carel is Carel Rowe, author of "Baudelarian Cinema" and
producer of, among other things, Andy Warhol's "Lonesome Cowboys."
