Art of Motion - Launch Screening

ART OF MOTION - Production Fund
Two filmmakers / artists will have the
opportunity to produce their own work with a
£2,000 budget, along with free studio, camera
hire and edit suite.

The completed films/projections will be exhibited
or screened at Sheffield Independent Film and/or
the Site Gallery in 2007.

Producing Art in Film
Showroom Cinema, Sheffield UK / 30 September 2006 / £35.00
A one day seminar with Dan Weldon who through his
production company Tall Stories has produced
films for some of the most visionary and original
filmmakers working in this country today -
including Andrew Kötting (Gallivant, This Filthy
Earth) and Nicolas Roeg - whose latest film
"Puffball" Dan both wrote and produced and is
currently in post production. Dan will be
discussing the collaborative relationship between
writer, producer and director and the
increasingly elusive finance for the weird and
the wonderful film project.

The Role of the Producer

A highly informative and practical introduction
to film production from on e of the region's best
independent producers. Deborah Ballin's credits
include work for the BBC, Carlton Television and
the BAFTA nominated short, Knitting a Love Song.
This workshop will give great insight into how to
make a small budget go a long way.

Directing - An Exploration of Method

Masters of the single take film, Joe Lawlor and
Christine Molloy, desperate optimists will host
an explorative workshop taking you to a mystery
location and demonstrating how space may be used
to enhance performance.

Make it Up
Sheffield Independent Film, UK / Sunday 8 October 2006 / £35.00 (10 places)
Special Effects and Make-up artist Dorota Hirst
has worked on many films including several
Fantasy and Horror offerings. In this practical
workshop she will show how to create great
make-up effects on a low budget.

Capture on Camera
Sheffield Independent Film, UK / Sat 14 & Sun 15 October 2006 / £130.00

Bevis Bowden, Cinematographer and Head of
Production at Film and Video Umbrella will run a
two-day theory and practice-based workshop
presenting unique examples of recently produced
artist film and exploring what camera and
lighting techniques were used to achieve the
final results.

Non-Sync Sound Recording and Design
Sheffield Independent Film, UK / Sat 21 & Sun 2006 / £130.00

Sound Artist and Designer, Ron Wright will run a
two day workshop introducing artists and
filmmakers to theories and practice surrounding
non-sync sound design. Participants will have
the opportunity to create their own soundscapes
using surround sound technology and discuss
potential ways of exhibiting and developing their
work.

Course subsidies (up to 40%) for Freelancers,
Part-time Employed or Unemployed are available.
