  S35 is a way to end up with 2.35 without using anamorphic lenses
however it does require an optical stage to do this.

The are commercials shot in the similar "Big TV" (or other names)
which go outside the Academy frame, in this case maximizing the
grain / area ratio and also allowing repositioning in telecine
transfer, but this isn't really relevant to the subject here.
