tati's playtime is brilliant, and already out i think on BFI.

elephant by van sant (hardcore sonic art)

evil dead by sam raimi (all the weird use of slowing down and speeding
up monster voices, a wind howl that has reportedly been used by many
since) - actually a lot of horror is pretty good for sound, just for
the emphasis on bringing up minor noises to make the audience jump....i
used to do a lecture on the sound for the exorcist's opening scene (for
the record i am not a fan of the exorcist)
