There is a beautiful essay by the german filmcritic/philosopher Frieda Grafe
(together with Miklos Gimes), which was published several times in German:
Tomaten auf den Augen- die Geschichte des Farmfilms ist die Geschichte einer
Verdrängung. (Tomatoes on One's eyes- the history of colour film is a
history of refusal)
And Christine Noll Brinckmann wrote sth. In the early 90ties in the viper
festival (Switzerland) catalogue: The sexuality of colour in experimental
films made by women!

Best
