Sound can hold meaning that is not inherent and that must be
reinterpreted by humans according to a learned system of symbols and
linguistic conventions. These films explore and deconstruct how
signifiers and language allow for the communication of information.

Guest speaker: Bruce Jenkins, Dean of Undergraduate Studies at the
School of the Art Institute of Chicago, former curator of the Harvard
Film Archive

Tickets are $6, or $4 for Block Museum members, students with ID, and
