LEE RANALDO & LEAH SINGER
DRIFT

"Drift" is the result of the collaboration between Leah Singer
(filmmaker and graphic artist) and Lee Ranaldo (guitarist, member of
SONIC YOUTH and TEXT OF LIGHT, and poet). Shot with a still camera,
frame by frame, Leah Singer's films are designed for two modified
projectors, which she manipulates directly just as a DJ scratches the
turntables. These delicate images are then overlaid by Lee Ranaldo's
electric music and texts. After having developed a long-term
collaboration on a number of different projects (films, installations
and books), the New York-based couple will present in Brussels the
latest version of this performance, which has previously been seen at
the Centre Pompidou in Paris, among other venues. A DVD version of
"Drift" has also just been released at the occasion of a gallery show
held in New York.
