For lavs I always liked the Tram - for the rather subjective reason
that I can stand the sound of my own voice thru them & most mics I
can't.
As I said, I'm not up on mics these days so it's good to hear
suggestions. (Well I still like Schoeps ;-)
I've had some great results for ambience with the Crown stereo PZM -
but it's really a binaural kit, it picks up *everything* --
