I noticed that for the next couple of days Circut City is offering a $10 rebate on the Vidster (recently mentioned on the list) when you purchase it online (maybe in the stores, too - I don't know) - making the vidster $69.99. thought some interested parties might like to know. I think I might buy myself one.
I feel kinda dirty buying my first video camera - I feel like I'm betraying my super 8 cameras and bolexes and projectors and splicers and handcranked jammed up ridculous seeming devices made of whirring pieces of metal and glass and real leather. The odd thing is that I'm a young fella - all the parents at church softball games and YMCA swim meets had video cameras - I had no clue what to do with my first rolls of super 8 film when I was 15 or 16 - filming my friends without any understanding of exposure and getting back footage that was either white or black without much image left in between. But I guess I'll start to find my middle ground - always keeping my refridgerator stocked with a couple of rolls of 16mm for comfort food and trying to adjust my palate so this digital cuisine isn't nausating. Who knows - I might even like it.
