Elfriede Fischinger (Oskar's widow), who distributed and promoted Oskar's films for 35 years after his death. See the Fischinger Archive website for references on Elfriede, plus her article, "Writing Light," John Canemaker's article on Elfriede, etc.

hi all,

I was curious about texts mentioned
above and earlier in reference to these
arguments, and since I did have access
to the resources at the new york public
library (and a little bit of time), I did
go down to the library's microfilm
center and copied all and keyed in the
somewhat scratchy text for the international
benefit of the argument and having some
sources for the text. I couldn't make
out the first name of a Fischinger that
Starr mentions, and looking around the
internet I couldn't find references to
         anyone else aside from Oskar.

... I figured if I was interested enough in the
texts behind the discussions, and I didn't
have access to them readily, then probably
a lot of other people might want to have them
as well. I hope authorities at NYT and SWN
will consider this as fair use, (or something
         like that.)

I'm not going to comment on what I think
too much, more than I just read Kenneth
Anger's "Hollywood Babylon" and has a lot
to say about women, in at least hollywood
film, in a quite illuminating way. The book
was so interesting that I must say I devoured
the whole thing in a day, just sat down and
read it whole through. Its not particularly
difficult reading, and has a number of pictures,
but I hardly do that w/ too many books.

... thnx for the further additions of the
films Wendy Dorsett, can I ask what text source
as reference has that listing? I'll see if
any of the public libraries has it. Also
thnx for all your other suggestions and while
I have some time I will come down and see what's
all in you all's libraries and etc.

Not quite.

From the Ford Foundation Annual Report, 1964:

Creative Film Makers: Fellowships to enable film makers to produce
short creative films or to study the cinematic art.

Kenneth Anger, Los Angeles, Calif.
Jordan Belson, San Francisco, Calif.
James Blue, Portland, Ore.
Bruce Conner, Brookline, Mass.
Carmen D'Avino, New York, N.Y.
Daniel Drasin, Brooklyn, N.Y.
Edmund Emshwiller, Wantagh, N.Y.
Hilary T. Harris, New York, N.Y.
Helen Levitt, New York, N.Y.
Kent Mackenzie, Glendale, Calif.
John R. McDermott, Westport, Conn.
Stanley Vanderbeek, New York, N.Y.

The program seemed to last one year only -- there is no mention of it
in their 1966 report, no 1965 report on their website. Parker Tyler
got one in 1963... perhaps that led to the 1964 extravaganza? Not a
bad list, though only one woman on it. (Hilary Harris is male.)
These were fairly well known -- I know the Renan book mentions them.
Funny that Kustom Kar Kommandos might have been paid for with Ford
money...
