16mm to mini-dv (audio question)

hello all

has anyone had experience feeding audio from a 16mm line out (1/4") into a mini-dv camera (mini-jack mic input)?

I've been told I can just use a 1/4" to mini-jack cable & keep the sound on the projector low, but I'm wondering if anyone's had impedance issues or if there's any danger of damaging the sound recording end of the camera ...?
