John, Adam, et al,

In developing 40 Frames Directory (scheduled to appear Feb 2006) one
section of the site was going to have links to artists who distribute work
directly (that is, not through co-op or other commercial distributors).

I would like to continue to work on this portion of the site, however I
felt there were some issues with artists who hold their own prints, and
rent directly, while distributing the same titles through distributors.
I'd like to address this conflict but haven't quite see clearly how.

I rent prints from distributors and I rent them directly from the artist,
and to be completely honest I try to track down what the artist feels is
the best available print (if they happen to have an opinion on the
matter), and that print is often one which they artist has in their
possession.

I'd love to hear from thoughts from people regarding this conflict, esp
Canyon, FMC, LUX, etc., or if folks even see this as being a conflict
between artist direct and distributors (mainly, the co-ops).
