Adam, I'll let you know if I hear anything further from MoMA. I can't tell you anything exact in regard to why MoMA doesn't seem to be renting the print at the moment - other than that I rent from them frequently, and when I called to book a few films for a series running next year, I was told that "they do not have a print of PORTRAIT OF JASON." I asked if there were any other distributors or if they had any idea where I could get a copy and was told no. Perhaps the print they do have is the only one struck from the preservation/restoration inter-neg/pos, and circulating copies are not yet available? I'm also curious as to how the film was restored, and from what materials, so I'll let you know if I hear anything concrete.
