this may have been answered already but I think
"teder w/ out the toder"
may be referring to a teeder-todder* (sp?), hence some sort of balance, or
balancing act,

hmm, how to describe a teeder-todder... I think they still exist at some
playgrounds... those long boards positioned diagonally, with a piece in the
middle that allows for a kid to sit on one end, a kid on the other end and
they take turns sending one another up and down...
