tENT has an extraordinary aptitude for hand-manipulating found footage.
He has another one whose title I'm forgetting where he permutates an
interminable shot of a newsanchor delivering an educational broadcast in
every conceivable way. As if that weren't enough, it's part of a
performance where he projects it onto a vinyl screen and stretches it
from behind.
On the whole I agree with your assessment of Tscherkassky's films and
find the "very Hollywood" comment apropos. A lot of 35mm experimental
film has that feel, though I wouldn't say it's necessarily a bad thing.
Also, I think it was a good idea to bring up _The Entity_, as most of
Tscherkassky's optical printer manipulations (I'm correct in assuming he
uses an optical printer, right?) in _Dream Work_ and _Outer Space_ are
"variations on" similar editing and composition choices in Sidney J.
Furie's film.
