Again i think you are talking about shelter, not engagement,
which is my sense of what the original term meant. It's totally
ok, even necessary, to 'do your own thing' i'm not against that
at all, not against play (or even "serious play") as a source of
strength and creativity. I just think it's confusing to use the
term 'avant garde' to refer to that.
